What can we do for you as a student requiring school guidance?
FAQs by Students and answers by Elizabeth Clarke
How do you work with me as I am in a different country?
Please do not worry about this. I will support you online and in person should your parents require this. I meet all students when they come to the UK to visit boarding or day schools here. Where your parents may wish me to accompany them to visit schools in other countries I can also do this.
How will you keep any confidences I have about moving to boarding school?
That is yes, especially where I may be working with other friends or family members who are looking at different schools and have different interests to you.
How can you understand how children feel about moving schools?
I have run boarding Houses in different schools in the UK, so I am fully aware of the challenges as well as the opportunities of boarding for the first time and away from home, country and culture. This knowledge supports the process of making you feel as ready and able to take up the wonderful chance to make new friends, learn much about yourself including independence, appreciate your home and family more and receive a great education in and out of the classroom.
Will you help me with specific subjects that I find hard?
We will help you discover your academic strengths and weaknesses because of considered and supportive subject assessments, putting you in pole position to be successful in your entrance examinations.
Will you help with the interview, the application for Sixth Form?
You will be prepared for any interview and in-school event that forms part of the entrance process. Please do not worry!
You can as both Oxford and Cambridge have made this clear in their list of entry requirements and the differing exam boards and curricular structures which they consider. Early consideration of the routes on offer as part of your university and possible school choices are highly recommended!
